Lira University ICT Unit is a support unit of the University that endorses usage of the Information and Communications Technology infrastructure and systems such as software, hardware, networks, and the University Websites at University.
We support students and staff on services provided by the University e.g AIMs, E-Learning and other technical related issues.
We have wifi Hotspots covering all the major Buildings in the University
All University staff and students are required to use University Official emails for all Communications.
To get an email address, come to ICT office and present your staff or Student details and an email will be created for you @lirauni.ac.ug.
Remember, this email is required for you to access University resources like Wi-Fi (eduroam), library, eLearning, AIMS, among others.
Lira University, ICT Department offer training opportunities to Students in terms of Internships.
This opportunity is open to students from different Universities and Institutions doing programs in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Networks.
The training sessions are conducted by well qualified instructors with many years of experience in divers computing fields but not limited to Computer Networks, System Administration, End User Support, Hardware repair and maintenance, etc.
We also partner with other institutions offering similar training programs and are willing to write for you recommendations should you require any.
Our main partner institution at the moment is Research and Education Network for Uganda (RENU)

We have the skills and knowledge about website design, development, maintenance plus hosting.
We have web conferencing tools that we use to support our staff during online meetings
We utilize security software and a number of security measures on our different systems to ensure confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of user data.
We have a network monitoring tool that displays information about the state of the network. This enables us to provide timely support to our users in case of a network disconnection.
